If you want to make the mapping work everywhere, one option is to run Subst automatically when the system boots up every time. If you map a folder using Subst, you will lose the association after you reboot or log out, and it is not permanent. Subst commands are still available in the most recent versions of Windows 10. In the 1990s, Windows NT included a command for using a folder to substitute for a drive. Navigate a folder to a drive letter is one of a few ways to do so. ![]() If you want to find a folder or computer, type its path into the Folder box, or if you want to browse to it, choose Browse. The letter will suffice (as long as it is available). You can choose a drive letter from the Drive list. By selecting the More menu item in the File Explorer ribbon, you can access the network drive.
